Which hairspray hold do I need?

How far away should I hold hairspray?
About ten to twelve inches. Closer than that and you get a wet patch that dries stiff and shows; further and most of it lands in the room. Mist in short bursts while moving, and let it dry before touching.
Does hairspray damage hair?
Not in itself. The damage usually comes from brushing sprayed hair before it dries, or from sleeping in it repeatedly without washing. Let it set, and wash it out the same day.
Can I use hairspray on second-day hair?
Yes — a light mist adds grip to clean, slippery hair and revives a style. If hair already feels coated, brush it out or refresh with dry shampoo first, otherwise you are spraying onto build-up.

Hold. Ultra Strong (13.52 fl oz), Supreme Finishing (10.14 fl oz) and Quinoa & Hemp Flexible (8.45 fl oz) all use an octylacrylamide copolymer fixative in denatured alcohol. Supreme adds collagen, biotin, niacin and ceramide NP; Quinoa & Hemp is the softer, brushable one.
Shine. Hair Shine Spray (13.52 fl oz) has no fixative at all — tetrasiloxane with fennel, hops, lemon balm and chamomile extracts. It adds gloss and nothing else. Spraying it for hold will not work.
Texture. Sea Salt Spray (8.45 fl oz) — sodium chloride with a VP/VA copolymer and wheat, corn and soy proteins. Matte, gritty, for beachy waves.
